Spent the weekend on a stand at Earl’s Court “Fly!” show as a hired hand. This clarified four things to me:
1. I miss London. Even the short tube journey, lunch breaks and walks around I found nostalgic, energising, and it was lovely.
2. I hate London. It covers you in a web of slime and sucks you into its hollow-cheeked thousand-yard-stare, even as a visitor.
3. I could never commute.
4. Standing up all day is impossible without a few good espressos – once these are paid for, the wages for manning a stand just about cover the train fare.
Now, how to get paid? On the plus side, Apex had got a proper enquiry… today, calling bloke from “NextStep” about self-employment. Seeing about signage for car/posters etc. Seeing the ginger website customer = for payment? I hope so! Filling in an application form for job at Early Learning Centre… putting washing out… maybe some decorating progress… nah! thrilling!
